Raw Western Australian honey for Perth
Looking for honey in Perth? Whether you're stocking the pantry, buying a gift or building a cheese board, shop raw Western Australian honey online or visit our Oldbury store. Choose from Jarrah, Marri, Karri and Australian Manuka. This matters because each Western Australian honey tastes of the flowers behind it, so knowing the variety helps you pick the right jar.
Varieties
Shop Jarrah honey, plus Marri, Karri, Blackbutt, Desert Mallee, White Gum Wandoo and Southern Yate honey. You will also find wildflower honey, organic Marri and Karri, and Australian Manuka. Many of our honeys come in 260g and 500g jars.
Local honey
Buying Honey For Life in Perth means buying from a Western Australian producer. Our honey is harvested from Jarrah, Marri and Karri forests and our own Manuka plantations in the South West. Our bees forage across native forests and plantations, so every variety tastes of the flowers behind it. The Jarrah, Marri and Karri varieties are unique to the South West.
Honey For Life owns two plantations in the South West. We have planted over a million trees there, most of them native to Western Australia.
Raw handling
Our honey is raw and unpasteurised. It is cold-extracted, never heat-treated and only lightly filtered. Gentle handling like this keeps the aroma and flavour you expect from Western Australian honey.
Raw honey can look cloudy or set firm over time. Both are normal.
Single-origin honeys such as Jarrah are unblended, so colour and flavour change from one variety to the next. Jarrah honey comes mainly from Jarrah flowers, and Blackbutt honey comes mainly from Blackbutt trees. Nectar flow also changes with the seasons, so each batch can look a little different. That is part of the appeal of raw honey.
Testing
Independent labs test our honey, including the ChemCentre in Western Australia.
Labs also check sugar and moisture levels against the Codex Standard. A rating describes a lab result. It is not a medical claim. Read more on our honey testing page.
Eucalypt honeys such as Jarrah are rated by Total Activity (TA), measured with a well diffusion assay.
Manuka is rated by MGO, the milligrams of methylglyoxal per kilogram.
Our beekeepers
In 2019 Honey For Life bought Davies Apiaries, a Western Australian commercial beekeeping operation. It came with an extraction facility and 1,200 beehives.
That means we look after our own bees, our own hives and our own extraction. Healthy bees and careful beekeepers make great honey. Buy from us and you buy straight from the beekeepers.
