A rare, wild Tasmanian rainforest honey with a bold floral aroma and signature tang — one of Australia’s most iconic and unique honey flavours. Our only honey from outside Western Australia.

About This Honey

LEATHERWOOD HONEY is collected from the remote, temperate rainforests on Tasmania’s wild western side — landscapes so ancient and untouched they are often compared to Middle Earth. These biodiverse forests produce one of Australia’s most distinctive honeys, celebrated for its intense floral perfume and unmistakable tangy bite.

Although not produced by our own beekeepers, we chose to include this honey in our collection simply because it is one of our absolute favourites. It is harvested only in small quantities, as access to these rainforest regions is limited and conditions can be unpredictable.

This honey’s bold personality, deep floral complexity and vibrant flavour make it a true artisan treasure — a taste of Tasmania’s pure natural wilderness.

Highly aromatic and floral with a famous sharp, tangy edge. Intensely perfumed, with a complex wildflower sweetness and a lingering, uniquely Tasmanian bite.

Mono-floral Leatherwood (Eucryphia lucida)

MGO/TA

MGO (Methylglyoxal)
Used for Manuka honey. Higher MGO levels indicate stronger antibacterial strength — from gentle everyday support to advanced immune and skin benefits.

TA (Total Activity)
Used for our Eucalyptus honeys (Jarrah, Marri, Blackbutt, Desert Mallee, etc.). TA measures the honey’s overall antibacterial strength, including natural hydrogen peroxide activity.

A higher TA rating means greater medicinal potency.

Whether TA or MGO, each measure helps you choose the right honey for your wellness needs — from daily support to targeted immune defence.

Testing
All Honey For Life honeys are independently tested at accredited laboratories, ChemCentre in Western Australia and Analytica in New Zealand to ensure purity, authenticity and medicinal strength.

Fantastic!!!

This leatherwood honey is truly addictive, where the description accurately matches my experience. The packaging of not only the glass jar is fantastic, but shipping to USA was outstanding at a reasonable price. This leatherwood is a one-of-a-kind honey sold by a one-of-a-kind company.

Best honey I've ever had

Gave it a try because it was on sale and I'm really glad I did! It's very different from most honeys - you can definitely taste the floral notes. Will be repurchasing once it comes back.

Pleasant and subtle

Pretty surprised with pleasant taste given the leatherwood name in this variety of honey.
