About Our Honey

What types of honey do you offer?

We offer a variety of high-quality raw honey, including Manuka, Jarrah, Marri, and Desert Mallee. Each type has unique properties and health benefits.

What makes your honey unique?

Our honey stands out due to several key factors:

  1. Happy, Healthy Bees: Our bees are among the healthiest in the world, free from the pests and diseases that ravage other bee populations. Western Australia is one of only two regions globally with disease-free bee populations, ensuring our bees thrive and produce the highest quality honey.
  2. Pristine Foraging Environments: Our bees forage in pristine, chemical-free environments, ensuring the purity and quality of the honey. This also supports the health of our bees and the biodiversity of the area.
  3. 100% Raw and Unprocessed: We ensure our honey is raw and unprocessed, preserving its natural enzymes, vitamins, and minerals. This means you get all the health benefits that nature intended.
  4. High Antimicrobial Activity: Our honey, especially varieties like Manuka and Jarrah, has high antimicrobial activity. This is measured by the Total Activity (TA) rating and MGO (Methylglyoxal) content, making it not only delicious but also beneficial for health.
  5. Sustainable Beekeeping Practices: We follow sustainable beekeeping practices, ensuring the well-being of our bees and the environment. This includes avoiding the use of chemicals and supporting local ecosystems.
  6. Quality Assurance: We adhere to strict quality control measures, including regular testing for purity and potency. Our honey is certified by various quality assurance programs, ensuring you receive the best product possible.
  7. Variety of Unique Honey Types: We offer a diverse range of honey types, each with unique flavours and health benefits. From the medicinal properties of Manuka to the rich, caramel-like taste of Jarrah, there’s something for everyone.
  8. Transparency and Traceability: We believe in transparency and provide detailed information about the origin and production of our honey. You can trace each jar back to the specific region and even the apiary where it was produced.

These factors combine to make our honey a superior choice for those seeking natural, high-quality, and ethically produced honey.

What is Total Activity (TA) rating?

The Total Activity (TA) rating measures the antimicrobial strength of our honey. A higher TA rating indicates stronger antibacterial properties. Our honey typically has a TA rating of 20+ or higher.

What is MGO in Manuka honey?

MGO (Methylglyoxal) is a compound found in Manuka honey that gives it its unique antibacterial properties. The higher the MGO rating, the more potent the honey.

What is the difference between TA and MGO?

When comparing MGO and TA ratings in honey, it’s important to understand that each rating measures different aspects of the honey’s antibacterial properties. The MGO rating specifically quantifies the concentration of Methylglyoxal, a compound known for its potent antibacterial effects, particularly in Manuka honey. For instance, an MGO rating of 100+ means there are at least 100 mg of Methylglyoxal per kilogram of honey. On the other hand, the TA rating provides a broader assessment of the honey’s overall antibacterial activity, taking into account all antibacterial compounds present, such as hydrogen peroxide and various phytochemicals. A TA rating of 20+, for example, indicates a high level of combined antibacterial activity. While MGO offers a precise measure of one key antibacterial component, TA gives a more comprehensive view of the honey’s overall antibacterial effectiveness. Both ratings are valuable for consumers looking to understand the therapeutic and nutritional benefits of different types of honey.

Can honey crystallize and what to do?

Yes, crystallization is a natural process that occurs in raw honey. It does not affect the quality or taste. To return it to a liquid state, gently warm the jar by placing it in warm water, no hotter than 50 degrees. Never boil honey, or it loses its health benefits.

How should I store my honey?

Store your honey in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. There’s no need to refrigerate it.

Is your honey suitable for vegans?

While honey is a natural product made by bees, it is not considered vegan. However, it is a great natural sweetener for those who include honey in their diet.

How do you ensure the quality of your honey?

We adhere to strict quality control measures, including regular testing for purity and potency. Our honey is also certified by various quality assurance programs. For more information on testing please visit our testing page.

Can I use honey as a natural remedy?
